Marine Harvest Selects FreshLook Marketing to
Provide Research Information
Monday August 16, 2:48 pm ET
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- FreshLook Marketing
Group, a leading supplier of marketing research information to the
perishables industry, announces that Marine Harvest, the world's
largest aquaculture company, based in Pompano Beach, Fla., has
selected FreshLook as its provider of distribution, sales and
pricing data on fresh seafood.
"Being able to monitor regularly the sales of salmon, trout and
other fresh seafood in markets across the US is something we look
forward to," said Chuck Fletcher, Marine Harvest's senior vice
president. "The comprehensive data and historical perspective that
FreshLook provides will allow us to learn first-hand about the
preferences of our retail customers. Moreover, it will add value to
business relations with the retail trade through partnering in
fact-based decisions in the areas of pricing, mix and promotion."
FreshLook will provide Marine Harvest with monthly Internet
delivery of data on over 25 different types of seafood. In addition
to information on the total US, the data will be broken down into
eight broad geographic regions.
"We are very pleased to have earned Marine Harvest's confidence
and business," said Mark Degner, president of FreshLook Marketing.
"We look forward to helping them create effective sales and
marketing strategies, evaluate retail promotions and identify
opportunities."

INFORMATION ON PRODUCE SALES NOW AVAILABLE TO RETAILERS
FreshLook Marketing Creates Perishables Industry’s First Syndicated
Database
Hoffman Estates, Ill., June 22, 2004 -- FreshLook
Marketing Group today announced the availability of scanner-based sales
information on fresh produce, with standardized category definitions and
retailer-specific geographies. Designed to allow retailers to compare
their performance with that of the total market in which they compete, the
service is the first true category management tool for the $30+ billion
U.S. produce industry.
Based on scanner data from 17,000 supermarkets and 125
retail accounts, the database includes up to two years of historical
information on approximately 120 different fruits and vegetables.
Retailers can view sales in the retailer’s market area (RMA) as well as
the broader competitive retail market area (CRMA).
“While a retailer has always been able to look at his own
sales, he had no way of benchmarking his performance,” said Mark Degner,
president and chief executive officer of FreshLook Marketing. “Now it is
easy for him to pinpoint his strengths, weaknesses and opportunities
versus the overall market.”
The FreshLook syndicated produce database provides the
retailer with economical, monthly information, standardized definitions
and the ability to accurately measure his sales results with that of the
specific geographic area in which he competes. “Without a valid means of
comparison, a retailer, for example, might be very pleased with a three
percent increase in sales of bananas in his Chicago area stores,” Degner
added. “However, he would be less satisfied if he knew that banana sales
in the overall Chicago market were up ten percent. Our database gives him
that critical perspective.” “
Many retailers are trying to differentiate their produce
departments from competition, but this is challenging because of the lack
of broad-based sales benchmarks,” said Bill
Bishop, president of Willard Bishop Consulting. “The new FreshLook data
has the potential to give retailers the answers to two questions that are
key to increasing produce sales and building overall store loyalty and
visits. They are: How do we compare, and how can we improve? We’re looking
forward to working with this unique new source of data in produce and,
ultimately, in other perishables departments.”
